I was going to wait to make a post about Friday and Saturday’s showroom sale – I haven’t taken photos of all of the awesome outfits I got – but then Birdie, jewelry maker and marketing guru for Deco-Modiste, sent me the few pictures we had a chance to take during the sale:

I think I’m in love.

This showroom sale exceeded my expectations, and then some. Kimberly Iblings, the brains (and sewing-induced calluses) behind the Deco-Modiste operation, explained that she likes to make clothes that fit women with curves, since she’s got some herself. She’s done a fantastic job: her designs make great use of body proportions, and she’s able to follow the trends while adding her own flair. The medium fits me perfectly.

Lekkerlife also had tons of gorgeous options at the showroom sale, including a cute fuchsia coat I picked up for a crazy-cheap 50$. Between the two of them, I got five different pieces – handmade, well-fitting, totally unique pieces – for less than 200$.  Birdie and I are going to take photos of them sometime this week (when I pick up those wide-leg pants, which Kimberly hemmed and took in at the waist for free) and as soon as I have them, I’ll post them up for all to see!

It would be great to have a shop here like that, I am always complaining how I can’t shop at the mall because none of the clothes there fit me even though I don’t consider myself plus-sized (I am too big for regular clothes and too small for plus-sized, it’s awful). That is so cool that this girl has taken into consideration the proportions of regular girl’s bodies.

    • 1. Have you checked out http://www.thedemoiselles.com?? If not, you HAVE TO. Elle has the same problem you do!

      2. There are designers in your area – or at least near it. They’re hard to find, but if you keep your ear to the ground and your weekends in the “trendy areas” you’ll find someone offbeat that makes clothes in your shape. I’m sure of it!

Um hi, I could have written EXACTLY what Elle did! Thanks for pointing me to this site!
