At the end of March I featured a group of Etsy sellers that rock at making modern pieces out of recycled goods. One of those Etsyers was tomate d’epingles, a creative jeweler that uses fur, leather, photo negatives and other found items to make classic and modern pieces, all with a bit of a twist. In the post, I featured one of her photo negative necklaces:
…and as a very generous thank you, she sent me my very own, plus a set of matching earings!

Guylaine and Isabelle have got a serious talent for photographing their jewelry, because I couldn’t seem to do the pieces justice like their Etsy shop does. The earings have so much movement to them that even getting a clear shot of them was difficult (and they sound like rustling leaves every time I turn my head):

In the end, I had to take them off so I could capture the way the light shines through them. I love that deep magenta color!

***And guess who is having an Earth Day Sale? That’s right: from April 12th to April 22nd, you can take 15% off of any item in their shop! That means the necklace above is only $22.10 – a STEAL – and their other items are all on sale, too. Now that I have tomate d’epingles’ photo negative jewelry, I’m eyeing their graffiti necklaces for my Earth Day purchase.***
After I thanked her for the jewelry set, she told me that she made it with my recently purchased Deco-Modiste outfit in mind. Low and behold: I was wearing the camisole from that same outfit on the day I got the jewelry. (That lace camisole is my new favorite clothing item. I love how completely girly it is.) This set looks like it will go with most of my outfits, though, and be a great addition to any “basic” get-up.
Speaking of which, I finally got a photo uploaded that shows off yesterday’s fashion risk:

What do you think: fashion do, or fashion don’t? Personally, I kind of love the combination of warm-toned golds and mustard with cool blues and creams. I tied the black sweater tights in with a chunky black necklace – did it work? (I apologize for the crappy bathroom shot: I had a short break at work, and could only do so much! I promise to get better shots of those shoes next time I wear them.)
I’m wearing my photo negative jewelry again today, this time with a red v-neck and pinstripe slacks. This set takes my basic clothing up a notch, which is exactly what I need while waiting for my tax return…thanks, tomate d’epingles!

Gorgeous earring and necklace set! Really lovely indeed.
And that outfit – fashion DO! I like it a lot. Maybe add a waist belt too, to cover the join between skirt and top? I love how the shoes and cardi compliment each other.
Beautiful jewelry! Not a big mustard fan, but you look very together and classy.
