Once a week I ask the same bleary-eyed question: “What about Wednesday?”It’s my day to post whatever the hell I feel like, with no regard to fashion, eco-consciousness or, occasionally, even coherent thoughts.

I love the rain, especially after a long, dry summer. Seattle’s summers are getting longer and hotter, so every year I look forward to the first big rainfall that signifies the coming of autumn.

Like most kids, when I was little I loved going out barefoot to play in the puddles, mucking up my clothing with mud and wet grass stains in the process.

Now, instead of wishing that each summer would pass more slowly, I often get impatient for that familiar burst of thunder.

Summers have always been stressful for me: in my family, birthdays, funerals and other stressful events are often concentrated in the warmer months. That first rain has become a symbol of release for me: the sky letting go its burdens, the trees relieving themselves of leaves, and the earth beginning to be renewed.
What season do you look forward to?

What About Wednesday? http://bit.ly/2loV6L
I look forward to the in-between seasons; in Missouri there’s really not a lot of them! Where we lived in MO, we had wicked winters that lasted from November to February or March, ice storms, hail, snow, etc. etc. and then about a month, maybe two of spring before it started hitting the 90′s. And it was hot and humid from May to September…then a month or two of fall! It’s really, really hot here (all of the locals say unusually so) right now, I’m hoping it cools down and that Austin has a longer fall than we had in Missouri!

Sounds like you have a lot on your sholders.
I love all seasons, but not when a particular one is espcially long. Then I might start waiting for a change of seasons. Back in my home country, summer was too long, too hot, too humid, but here is Seattle it is just perfect, AND you get rain every now and then. I used to hate that. Now I love it.
Yes, definltely, summer. And winter. And fall, and spring, oh, I forgot about spring!… are my favorite seasons.
I guess I love to be alive.

I love fall. We never had much shifting of the seasons in California, where I spent most of my childhood. But here in New York, you have crisp autumn leaves, boots and slouchy sweaters. It’s all so cozy.
BTw, the picture of that mime with child is either the most adorable thing I’ve ever seen, or the most disturbing.

When its winter, I look forward to summer for the sunshine. Then in summer I look forward to winter, for the fashion. I’d love to live somewhere like Boston, the autumn looks gorgeous there.
I adore the Mud Child with Mime photo so much. Really do.
