Sustainable Sales: Nudie & EDUN (for Men!)

Here we go again!  Gilt is kicking it up a notch with two more sustainable sales, this time on organic jeans by Nudie and fashions by EDUN.

Here’s the skinny on Nudie, as provided by Gilt.com (emphasis mine):

“This premium-denim brand from Sweden [...] celebrates the individuality of aged denim and crafts jeans that are built to last. Nudie has pioneered the use of organic denim, weaving jeans from 100 percent organic cotton only and using materials like potato starch and pre-reduced indigo to ensure that no chemicals are introduced in the production process. With skinny [jean] styles like the “Slim Jim” and the “Tight Long John,” Nudie has the hipsters-at-heart covered [and] includes checked men’s shirts, rugged sweatshirts and chunky leather belts.”

Most of us know about Edun, the eco-loving line by Bono and his wife, Ali Hewson.  If you’ve been under a rock, though, here’s a synopsis (emphasis mine):

“Launched in 2005, Edun is a socially conscious fashion company that strives to create beautiful clothing while fostering sustainable employment in developing areas around the world. With its edgy, modern approach to classic silhouettes, the collection’s color palette pulls from the dusky blues and grays found in nature at night. [...] Edun’s efforts toward socially and environmentally conscious products and processes have earned the label a CFDA award as well as support from celebrities Bonnie Raitt, Liv Tyler, Lindsay Lohan and Nicole Richie.”
