In the last edition of Eco-Friendly Stocking Stuffers, I forgot to mention that there are tons of December holidays that incorporate tiny (but thoughtful!) presents. I’ve seen many a friend agonize about their partner’s Hanukkah gifts, or quibble about what the better solstice present would be. So don’t be too offended, non-Christian readers – the title may sound small-minded, but I promise, I’m keeping you in my thoughts.
Without further ado, here’s a second helping of the best small, thoughtful gifts for the holiday season:
Clothing & Accessories
Soft but bold, elegant but substantial…my crush on EDUN is growing. This scarf is made out of organic cotton, and is meant to be unisex, so if your guy appreciates Bono’s personal style, this might be a good gift idea! (Mine doesn’t; I just want it for myself.)
I can think of about twenty sweaters, v-necks and cardigans I could wear this under, and a ton of lacy underthings I could layer it on top of, too. I’m into peek-a-boo effects; can you tell?

Hanky Panky Organic Cotton Low Rise Thong
I’m not sure how I feel about this “one size” business, but this panty does have a really flattering cut, and being that it’s organic cotton, I assume the softness is superb – a necessary quality for panties, in my opinion.
Bath & Beauty
Three words: New Years Makeup. I already know which one of my friends is getting this as her Christmas present (and she reads this blog).

Korres Vanilla Cinnamon Body Milk
I hate getting holiday-themed bath products for Christmas, but I do love scents that are food-like. Vanilla Cinnamon sounds delicious, without making me think of the holidays every time I shower. (Speaking of which, there’s a
showergelto match the body milk.)
Jewelry

Alex and Ani Cameo Expandable Bangle Set
This cameo skirts the line between romantic and modern, which I love, and is made using recycled metals, which I also love. The reason I chose it over other bracelets, though, was because it’s expandable: no matter what size your wrists are, it will fit. (This is a huge deal to me, as I have tiny wrists.)
This is just plain cool. I can easily see it being a unisex gift – guys could easily add it to jeans and a tee – and really like that it’s beautiful and useful.
Home
I have no qualms about finding a larger-than-usual item in my stocking if it’s something truly innovative, like this alarm clock. Instead of the usual buzzers, it rings a chime at increasingly closer intervals to slowly wake you. I prefer the darker walnut version; the boyfriend likes bamboo.
Before my mom went in for her bilateral mastectomy, she gave me a sachet with a hanky soaked in her favorite perfume…just in case. That hanky still sits in a drawer, wrapped in a blanket, for those times that I miss my mom – who is still living, but not as close as I’d like her to be. (Don’t laugh – you miss your mom sometimes too.) These scented stones don’t bring back memories, but they would be a nice way to keep your linens smelling fresh, or your packed-away summer clothes from smelling dingy when you unearth them.
