It started early this year.
After spending tons of time and energy making a list, brainstorming ideas, and shopping for other people’s holiday gifts, I get…selfish. I know, it’s horrible, but after looking online for stuff everyone else will (hopefully) like, how can I not come across stuff that I like?
So, of course, since I started looking for my boyfriend’s and family’s gifts earlier than usual, this malady has begun to take affect. The first symptom? Wanting to add almost everything from the Eco Sectionof Tobi
to my Wishpot.

Prairie Underground Dreamcatcher Coat: $253 $126 (Final sale!)
Now that I have a dress by Prairie Underground, I’m even more obsessed with them. This coat is the next item on my list: it’s made of a hemp-cotton blend, has customizable cinch detailing on the front and back, and a button collar that can be worn notched, open or cowled. Did I mention that it’s machine washable? (I love you, Prairie Underground.)

Loomstate Flux Slim Tapered Leg Jeans in Fossil: $168
Organic cotton dark-wash jeans, plus a stiff raw denim feel, plus only 1% elasticity, equals enough stretch to keep them comfortable, along with all the elements to make them look long, lean and slimming. Keep in mind: you may want to order an inch above your normal size.
I’ve been nervous about the “bootie” trend, solely because I’m really short and ankle-height shoes tend to make my legs look pieced-together, but the cut of these actually leads the eye upward, which means length, not stubbiness. There’s also a .75″ platform under that 3.5″ heel, so they wouldn’t kill me by the end of a workday. And, like all of Melissa’s shoes, these are eco-friendly: they’re made out of MELFLEX recycled and recyclable plastic.

AK Vintage Jewelry Let Thunder Drum Necklace: $62
I love brass – it’s such an unexpected metal – and this necklace makes me think of ancient gods and goddesses, teaching us puny humans a lesson. (Being that it’s vintage, I like to imagine that at least one of the pieces was Zeus’s.) Another thing that makes me feel a little godly: Red Flower Icelandic Moonflower Body Wash.It sounds so soft, cool, and otherworldly (other-moon-ly?).

Edun Hearts on Fire T-shirt: $70 $42
EDUN’s shirts are always sustainably made in a way that supports global economic development. This one’s organic cotton, too, and something I could layer under a cardigan for work or over a thermal for the colder days of winter – which I’m dreading, by the way.

Loomstate Kharma Bootcut Jeans in Basin: $161
Just like the skinnies, these are constructed of a stiff, organic, raw denim. Maybe that’s why Loomstate recommends you wash them while you’re wearing them…in the shower. But if you’d rather not do that, you can always use The Laundress Denim Wash. It’s got great reviews, and a number of my friends swear by it.

Alternative Apparel Mr. Rogers Eco-Vertigrain Cardigan: $50
My first thought upon seeing this cardigan: “Dude, that’s cheap!” (Yes, I say “dude,” and yes, I feel a little ashamed by it. I grew up in the nineties, remember?) I didn’t even notice the biggest appeal of this cardigan until I read the description: “This slouchy grandpa cardigan doesn’t add bulk to your hips like thicker styles do.” Smart! Note that it’s also pre-shrunk, so you shouldn’t need to buy up a size to get that relaxed look.

Melissa Ultragirl IV Flats: $69
These are plastic too – really! I love that they look soft and suede-like, and would be curious to see how they fare in Seattle’s stormy weather…or in the shower with those jeans. Ahem.
I’m going to stop before I go overboard. It’s time to get back to shopping for Christmas gifts – and maybe taking a shower. (I seem to be a little focused on it, what with that body wash, those jeans, plastic shoes…what gives?)
