You don’t realize how awesome vegetables are until you can’t eat anything else.

Mushrooms, broccoli, spinach, even bell peppers: during my recent elimination diet, I got very good at creatively combining, preparing and cooking things that grow in the ground*, without any of the “off limits” foods I was used to relying on for flavor and substance (namely dairy, mostly cheese.) Learning I don’t need all that dairy and soy sauce and other high-sugar, processed stuff? Kind of awesome.

While I am a little mad at my body for all the hassle it’s given me over the past few months, I’m not necessarily seeking revenge against it…but if I were, I would hope that I’d use what I learned this past month to put an old adage into action:

The best revenge is living well.

It’s the mantra of ethical clothing company Revenge Is., and they read my mind when they put out their new “Eat Your Veggies” line of ethical tanks and t-shirts for men and women. The tanks feature Siro Micro Modal (made from sustainable beechwood) and the tees are made from recycled plastic bottles. The result of both raw materials is fabric that is durable and won’t shrink in the wash (aka exactly what you want in a t-shirt or tank).

All of the shirts pictured here are available in other colors and styles, including men’s shirts. This slouchy tee is my favorite – perfect for the beach, with shorts, or half-tucked into a skirt, bohemian-style.

Broccoli: my favorite superfood. Don’t be nervous about the cropped-ness of this shirt: it would be perfect over a form-fitting maxi dress or high-waisted jeans.

Gazpacho, anyone? (By the by: if you have a good gazpacho recipe, please comment! I want to make some this year.)

I want to love bell peppers, I really do. Maybe I can get their Vitamin C and calcium via t-shirt osmosis?

What’s your favorite summer vegetable? Would you wear it in veggie-eating solidarity?

*I know mushrooms aren’t veggies. We’re pretending just this once that they are, in support of Revenge Is.
